All American Girl April 2, 2008

Its been announced that the rights to “All American Girl” by Meg Cabot have been optioned. Rumors are Miley Cyrus would star and it would be the follow up to her Hannah Montana movie that’s due to hit theaters later this year. I wonder if Billy Ray Cyrus will play the President. However, this is not the first time there has been rumors of an “All American Girl” movie. In earlier reports, Raven Symone was set to star as the girl who saves the President’s life.

I’m deeply embarrassed to admit that I’m kind of looking forward to this movie. I love Meg Cabot’s books. I think she is a great author. I’m just a little scared because the last time one of her books was adapted for the screen, we got “The Princess Diaries” movies. Those movies are great for little girls who dream of one day becoming a princess (and who hasn’t had that dream?) but they were so different from the books. They changed so much to make them into a nice, safe Disney movie that they barely resembled Cabot’s original work. So let’s hope Disney doesn’t change too much and suck all of the fun out of this.

So friends, I was sitting down to write this earlier in the day and I had a wonderful rant about the french but I was interrupted by class and now I have forgotten what it was I wanted to talk about! So, I guess I will just have to tell you that I think Paula Abdul’s outfit was totally wack tonight on American Idol, but it is Paula so….. I would also like to recommend a couple of fun french sites for you: http://lacoquette.blogs.com/ and http://www.ruerude.com/. Both are blogs by Americans who live in Paris. And here are a few images of France and the French just for fun: (more…)

I DO NOT LIKE THEM,SAM-I-AM. I DO NOT LIKE GREEN EGGS AND HAM. March 19, 2008

I am so very excited for “Horton Hears a Who” I loved that story as a child! But, I am a little disturbed by this:

Green eggs and ham are a good thing, I guess. I don’t really know, I don’t eat egg, but I would think that it should look a little better than this. What is in the egg? Spinach?  Some other green veggie? I really thought the way to make green eggs and ham was to add food coloring to the egg then scramble. As for the pancakes, they look like they are on an acid trip, which isn’t completly bad, but it doesn’t look edible. Sorry IHOP, I guess I am in a snarky mood!

The Muppet MovieI am so excited! Last week, Disney announced that the Muppets would be returning to the big screen! No plot details have been released at this time but the film was written by Jason Segal who just so happens to be the the star of “How I Met Your Mother” and “Sarah Marshall”. I completely agree with his take on the old Muppet movies:

“The old Muppet movies were written as though they were proper movies,” Segel says. “They weren’t novelty acts because there were puppets in it. It was like Kermit trying to put on a big Broadway musical in ‘The Muppets Take Manhattan.’ Or ‘The Great Muppet Caper‘? Come on! Charles Grodin is so good in it. I want to bring it back to that. Like those early ’80s movies with a proper plot and it’s the Muppets putting on a show. It’s not a hard formula.”

Sadly, it looks like the movie is at least 2 years away at this point. But at least it is in the works!

The Other Boleyn Girl March 14, 2008

Another weekend is upon us, huzzah! In celebration of another weekend, or rather then end of a long week, we impulsively went to see “The Other Boleyn Girl” with Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, Eric Bana and Jim Sturgess. It was a beautiful cast, but besides that the film was terrible!! Eric Bana’s costumes made his head look incredibly small, the camera angles were wack and according to Gigi and Bridget it didn’t follow the book at all. Normally I read books before I see movies, but this time I am so glad I didn’t! It made it a little easier to watch without comparing it the whole time.  Here’s some pictures from the film:
