So I am *trying* to do some homework (and it’s not going so well) but look what I found on YouTube! I love these commercials. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Happy Days, Friends, The Office? April 2, 2008

NBC has just greenlighted a spin-off for the Office. No details have been released about the new show but rumors suggest it would premiere after the Super Bowl next year. Normally any news about the Office would fill me with glee but this just doesn’t sound like a great idea. Spin-offs generally aren’t that great and I would HATE for any of the existing characters to leave the Office. I guess we’ll just have to see how this all turns out. Also, I wanted an excuse to post this picture:

All American Girl April 2, 2008

Its been announced that the rights to “All American Girl” by Meg Cabot have been optioned. Rumors are Miley Cyrus would star and it would be the follow up to her Hannah Montana movie that’s due to hit theaters later this year. I wonder if Billy Ray Cyrus will play the President. However, this is not the first time there has been rumors of an “All American Girl” movie. In earlier reports, Raven Symone was set to star as the girl who saves the President’s life.

I’m deeply embarrassed to admit that I’m kind of looking forward to this movie. I love Meg Cabot’s books. I think she is a great author. I’m just a little scared because the last time one of her books was adapted for the screen, we got “The Princess Diaries” movies. Those movies are great for little girls who dream of one day becoming a princess (and who hasn’t had that dream?) but they were so different from the books. They changed so much to make them into a nice, safe Disney movie that they barely resembled Cabot’s original work. So let’s hope Disney doesn’t change too much and suck all of the fun out of this.

Michael: Dwight did you know that the office is back on April 10th?

Untitled-1-dd.png

Dwight: What? There must be some miscalculation! The beets aren’t ready!!!!

Untitled-4-74.png

Michael: Who cares about the beets Dwight? I don’t care! America doesn’t care! The important thing is that the Office is back and we are going to be ready.

Ok, so that was my really bad take on what is happening in those shots for “Night Out”. I hope you all watch “Dinner Party” on April 10th at 8/7c on NBC!!!

Now for some really funny quotes from the office:

[Jim sets a fence of pencils up between Dwight and his desk]
Dwight Schrute: Your pencils are creating a health hazard. I could fall and pierce an organ.

Dwight Schrute: Dammit, he put my stapler in jello again!
[Points to Michael]
Dwight Schrute: You can be a witness to this.
Jim Halpert: [eating jello] How do you know it was me?

Michael Scott: Would I rather be feared or loved? Um… Easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.

 Cheers!

Does anyone remember the Bravo show ”Showbiz Moms & Dads”? It was wonderful and spawned all those spin-offs like “Sports Moms & Dads” or the pet one. The parents were so delusional and I just felt so bad for the children. The new show on Vh1 with Danny Bonaduce kinda reminds me of it. Anyway, here is a clip featuring the Nutter family. There are like 7 of them living in a small NYC apartment so the dad can pursue his dream of becoming an actor. I miss this show.

Return to Sweet Valley March 27, 2008

I was overjoyed today when I read this headline:

Sweet Valley High re-release news

Bee and I loved reading these books! We would read every new series they put out about the Wakefield twins. We often reminisce about our favorite plot lines like the one with the “evil triplet” who tries to take over Elizabeth and Jessica’s lives and then it turns out that she has an “evil twin” too! Or the legacy books that traces the main characters ancestry! We even recently bought some at the local library’s book sale. So that headline really intrigued me.

Upon further investigation, I discovered that an All My Children star, Leven Rambin (who plays an autistic character and her older half sister which kind of sounds awesome and makes me want to watch) is portraying both chaste Elizabeth and slutty Jessica on the new covers. However the biggest changes are in the details. In a memo circulated by Random House, the updated content is highlighted:

  • Instead of driving a Red Fiat, the twins now drive a Red Wrangler Jeep.
  • Elizabeth is now the editor of the Sweet Valley High website where she has an anonymous blog called The Insider which I am sure will be the cause of all sorts for drama
  • The twins are no longer the “perfect” size 6 as they were in 1983 when the series premiered. They are now the “perfect” size 4.

Am I the only one that is disturbed about the change in the twins’ clothing size? Apparently, its not okay to be a size 6 in 2008? One needs to be a size 4 in order to be perfect. The whole thing is just really ridiculous, stupid and insulting to the readers. Their clothing size didn’t need to change; there is no reason for it. Why did the publishers need to draw attentiont to it? It just sends the wrong message to the young readers because no size is “perfect.”
